Year 9 pupils embarked on an enriching Latin and Classics school trip to Butser Farm and Fishbourne Palace.

The trip to Butser Farm offered captivating insights into the construction of homes during the Iron Age and Roman Era, shedding light on the lives of people in that era. Students had the chance to craft spiral-themed jewelry, mirroring Iron Age styles. Exploring a recreated ancient dwelling provided a glimpse into the past.

The visit to Fishbourne Palace revealed the remnants of a once-magnificent Roman palace, remarkably preserving undamaged mosaics despite centuries underground. Students learned new facts about the palace, such as mosaic artists leaving their signatures, its immense size, and its historical significance.

“This trip was both enjoyable and educational, leaving us with a deeper understanding of history.” Isabella & Emily, Year 9 pupils
