As part of the Year 4 computing curriculum and with a focus on Technology Design skills, the girls enjoyed a workshop learning to use the Makecode Arcade coding environment.
As well as learning about animation, conditional statements and loops, the girls found out about the history of gaming devices and the dramatic changes that have taken place in the last 20 years in the industry. They designed a chase game to catch objects and avoid the enemy.
Below is an example of one of the games completed by Arden:
Use the joystick or arrow keys on the keyboard to move the player (cat sprite) to collect the food (fish sprite). But look out for the enemy (fox)! Score 10 to win if you can, but you only have 3 lives. Good luck!
