Earlier this week, Year 3 pupils took part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2024, identifying the various birds within the school’s extensive grounds.

The pupils were impressed with the diversity of birds they saw and heard, including estrels and swifts flying high above their heads. Their findings will be sent to The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) to be included in their national study.

Year 3 were so grateful to Mr Smart from RSPB Bromley for sharing his expertise and enthusiasm for birds with them. He certainly inspired the girls to develop their interest in birds and the natural world.

“I really enjoyed the lesson as I love identifying birds and learning outdoors. For example, the great tit calls, ‘Teacher! Teacher’ while the wren has a high-pitched song with a distinctive trill in the middle of its melody.”Year 3 pupil
