National Poetry Day was a resounding hit among our girls this week! The celebration of poetry is important because it not only nurtures the beauty of language but also encourages self-expression, empathy, and creativity.

Throughout the day, Year 3 pupils embraced creative ways to bring poetry outside the classroom, giving them a chance to connect with the beauty of words.

One delightful outdoor activity was ‘Playground Poetry’, where the girls immersed themselves in a world of nature-inspired poems, fostering a deeper appreciation for the environment. However, the highlight of the day was the unique and humorous ‘Poetry whilst you Pee!’ initiative, bringing laughter and inspiration to an unexpected place – the school toilets.

“I loved performing the poems – can we do it every lunchtime!”Nayela & Millie, Year 3

Moreover, the Year 4 art club had the exciting opportunity to complement poems with stunning illustrations, exploring the intersection of art and verse.

National Poetry Day truly brought the magic of words to life, igniting creativity, laughter, and inspiration in our school community. We look forward to more poetic adventures in the future!
