Year 2 pupils were taken back to the life and times of two of our most valuable Victorians, Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.

Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole, Victorian pioneers in nursing, left indelible marks on healthcare. Nightingale’s reforms in sanitation transformed nursing standards, while Seacole’s bravery and compassion provided care to wounded soldiers. Both women defied societal norms, shaping modern nursing practices and inspiring generations with their dedication and resilience.

The children experienced just how hard life was for Florence and Mary as they helped the soldiers of the Crimean War. Yet, they also experienced the heights of society during the Grand Ball held by the grateful soldiers.

“We learnt a lot about history in a super fun way! The workshop was really interesting and we loved dressing up as one of the historical figures.”Year 2 pupils
