Congratulations to Year 12 Art student Amelie who, after winning her heat at the Courtauld Insititute in February, presented at the Articulation London Finals last week at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The Articulation Prize is a nationally acclaimed annual event run by The National Gallery, which promotes the appreciation and discussion of art. The Prize engages students aged between 16-19 with art, regardless of background or experience, and develops their confidence and ability to express their opinions, thoughts and conclusions.

As one of ten competitors, Amelie spoke engagingly and lyrically about ‘Cafe Terrace at Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh. Amelie is the first student to represent Bromley High School at the competition and she did extremely well to reach this stage; over 1,000 students in the UK have taken part in the prize this year!

“A fantastically confident account. I loved the splitting of Van Gogh’s painting in half, the comparison of stars to daisies and especially the extraordinary observation of the receding characters making the viewer more human, that was something I hadn’t seen at all in that painting.”Olivia Laing, Author & Competition Adjudicator

Amelie will now join the thriving alumni network which offers a range of industry experiences and opportunities.
