Last week, Year 12 Geographers had a fantastic four days of fieldwork at the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.

The Jurassic Coast is a mesmerising stretch of coastline that spans approximately 95 miles, from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its outstanding geological significance and breathtaking natural beauty. The coast showcases millions of years of Earth’s history, with its cliffs and rock formations revealing a fascinating timeline of ancient marine life and geological processes.

A level students carefully planned their routes to gather primary data for their independent investigations. Some students focused on the regeneration of Boscombe while others chose to explore key questions related to coastal management at Swanage Bay.

The students will now proceed with conducting literature reviews to support their chosen titles and commence the analysis of their data.

“This trip was a great insight into how we can use our geography skills in everyday life to investigate questions. The data we collected will really help us complete our coursework.”Louise, Year 12 pupil
