Our German partners arrived in Bromley from Brühl on Wednesday 22ndMarch and we were all thrilled to meet and greet them. There are 15 of them this year and on their first full day at Bromley High, they met Mrs Drew, had a brilliant tour of the school and then came with us and participated in our lessons. It was great learning about how our schooling is different from theirs, for example they experienced DT for the first time. We ate in the canteen, which our exchange partners also found unusual as they were not used to eating school meals. They found that our school day was much longer than theirs, seeing as on most days they finish at 1pm, so by the time we returned home on that first day, our partners were very tired! They were now used to our daily routine, and they had also adjusted to the time difference.
On Friday we all visited Madame Tussauds together, this was a very enjoyable experience, and definitely not one we will be forgetting. This was then followed by lunch at Pizza Express – it was delicious. At the weekend we all took our partners out with us wherever we wanted, to show them the local area. Most of us travelled into London to go sightseeing, but some travelled further afield.
The following week they had another day trip to London as well as two more mornings in school with us. The time that we had spent with them went by very quickly for all of us. At the beginning, we were a little nervous, however now we are all wishing that they could have stayed longer and we are looking forward to visiting them in July.
