At Bromley High School we encourage pupils to be kind, not only to others, but to themselves. This half-term’s Wellbeing Week coincided with Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week with the theme of ‘My Voice Matters’.
The Junior School’s Wellbeing Week brimmed with activities, aimed at empowering young voices and fostering attentive listening. Monday kicked off with a spirited school-wide disco led by Mrs. Voice and Year 6, setting a lively tone. Digital Leaders championed Safer Internet Day through assemblies and engaging lunchtime events on emotional influences online. Mrs Kasza-Martin Hicks hosted a tag workshop, inspiring pupils to express themselves artistically. Karaoke lunchtime offered a joyful platform for all to participate in familiar tunes.
Wellbeing Week in the Senior School featured diverse activities to empower pupils in driving positive change. “Powerful Voices” sessions and the inaugural “Pod Along” led by Sixth Form Prefects, focused on mental health advocacy and seeking support. The week also offered enjoyable engagements such as making ‘chatterboxes’ in the Wellbeing Hub. Year 10 pupils organised an open mic event, showcasing comedy, music, poetry, scholarly discussions and magic acts. The entire community rallied together, supporting each other amidst lively performances. Popcorn and a thrilling lucky dip added to the enjoyment, cultivating solidarity and appreciation within the Senior School community.
Overall, the week emphasised self-expression, online safety awareness, and communal enjoyment, enriching the school community’s holistic wellbeing.
This year we are asking parents and carers to take some time on Friday 9th February to get involved at home. We invite families, parents and carers to get involved and take part.
