Bromley High School’s under 12 netballers took part in two Kent County tournaments this month; the A team competing in the Kent County Netball Tournament and the B team playing in the Kent Schools Invitational Netball Festival.
After a strong start for our under 12 A team winning 4-0 win against Sydenham, the team then won against Bennett Memorial with a score of 4-1. They continued their winning streak with another victory against Townley, 5-4. Unfortunately, Bromley High’s perfect record in the tournament was broken after a defeat against Kent College Pembury with a final score of 3-8. Thankfully, the loss didn’t dishearten the girls as they won the rest of their matches in the group stages (Benenden 5-2, Eltham 7-4 and Rainham Mark 3-1).
Unfortunately, after an intense last match, the A team’s tremendous efforts were not enough as they ended up being knocked out of the competition after their loss of 1-4 against Newstead Wood. The girls will now head back to their training and will strive to get the gold next year!
“After confirmation that we had moved through to the quarterfinals, we knew the matches would only get harder and progressing in the competition would be a challenge, but it was a challenge we were willing to take!Freya, U12A team and Year 7 pupil
Our under 12 B team competed in the Kent Schools Invitational Netball Festival, with the day starting off with an excellent 11 – 0 win against Malling School. The girls continued throughout the tournament to win all their games. Well done to Evie, Leyla and Priscilla, who made some great interceptions in defence. Also, a very well done to shooters Georgia, Savannah, and Rosie who scored some amazing long shots. Lucia, Edesiri and Sophie held the middle court well, and always got it down to our shooters using energy and tactics.
“Well done to everyone who played, and this tournament showed that hard work, determination, and teamwork go a long way. You should all be very proud of yourself. Well done Year 7 B Team! ” Ava, U12B team and Year 7 pupil
