For our final external debating competition of the year, Dr. and Mrs. Christie brought ten Key Stage 3 debaters to Putney High School for the GDST Junior Debating Competition 2024.
For most of these young debaters, it was their first ever competition, and they certainly went all out.
Year 8 pupils Olamide and Isabella were the champions of the Novice Final, while Lucia from Year 8 and Mariana from Year 9 both qualified for the Silver Final despite also being novices themselves. Year 9 pupils Kitty and Eniola were ranked very highly as individual speakers, with Mariana emerging as the champion individual novice speaker.
It was a wonderful way to launch the next generation of Bromley High School debaters, and we are excited to see where they go from here.
