Year 12 Maths students immersed themselves in the Maths in Action conference at the Emmanuel Centre last week. From captivating lectures on Fermat’s Last Theorem to the intersection of mathematics and music, the diverse topics captivated the audience.
The highlight session, “Maths with a twist,” delved into the creation of intricate fractal patterns from seemingly simple equations. A particularly beneficial session offered insights into excelling in Maths A level exams, with valuable tips on avoiding common mistakes and understanding examiners’ marking processes.
The interactive nature of the conference allowed students to pose questions to speakers and volunteer for participation, enhancing the overall learning experience.
“Overall, we were able to see how relevant Maths is to almost every aspect of our daily lives and many of us left inspired to continue our Maths studies in the future.”Hifas, Year 12 pupil
