Year 8 and 9 pupils enjoyed a Latin trip to the Bay of Naples during the Easter break, immersing themselves in the history and culture of ancient Rome.
The Bay of Naples is home to many historically significant sites which the pupils thoroughly enjoyed visiting, including the ruins of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and the Villa of the Papyri, which were all buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Pupils also took part in a pizza making class. They learnt how to make delicious homemade pizzas, experiment with different toppings and create their own unique flavour combinations as well as bonding with their classmates over a shared love of food!
The trip provided opportunities for pupils to practice their Latin skills by reading inscriptions and interpreting ancient texts.
“One of my favourite moments was getting the funicular down Capri, the views were incredible. I became settled into Italian life and how welcoming and interactive everyone was!”Sophie, Year 9 pupil
