After successfully qualifying in the county rounds, the Bromley High School athletics team travelled to Guildford last week to compete in the ESAA regional round of the Track & Field Cup.
The T&F Cup is a highly anticipated annual event that brings together athletes from various schools to compete in track and field disciplines, showcasing their skills and striving for victory.
The team exhibited tremendous effort and determination, facing strong competition, and ultimately secured an impressive fourth place overall. Throughout the event, there were remarkable performances and courageous efforts as team members stepped up to participate in less familiar events, providing crucial support to the team.
On the track, Tess and Fayo set the tone for the day with victories in their respective hurdles races. Fayo achieved a significant personal best, clocking in at 12.2 seconds. Kara and Freya also emerged victorious in their 800m races, recording excellent times. Mariana and Francesca showcased their skills in the 100m, with Francesca claiming first place in her race with a personal best of 13.7 seconds. Rowan and Hetty delivered strong performances in the 1500m races, while Rosie and Aara contributed valuable points to the team in the 200m. The relay team, comprised of Isla, Jasmine, Mariana, and Rowan, displayed a commendable performance in a challenging field.
In the field events, Jasmine and Fayo competed in the high jump, with Fayo securing victory by clearing 1.53m. Freya and Tess participated in the long jump, with Tess achieving a new personal best of 4.72m.
Rosie and Aara took on the javelin throw, while Isla and Kara represented the team in the shot put event, both working tirelessly to accumulate valuable points for the team’s overall score.
