Five pupils have been presented with Gold Industrial Cadets awards after successfully completing their project with BAE Systems. This award and the experience gained is a notable highlight for all girls in their UCAS applications.
Industrial Cadets is part of the Engineering Education Scheme which links Year 12 pupils with companies where they work on real-life, scientific, engineering and technology projects. Young people graduating at the Gold Level will follow a programme of activities over a minimum of 50 hours.
Lilah , Natalia , Eva , Georgia and Lana from Year 12 were paired with an engineer from BAE Systems and given a task to design a heads up display for a motorcycle helmet. They had regular meetings with their engineer at BAE Systems in Kent, in school and also during a two day workshop at UCL.
Throughout their project they developed a variety of skills including programming, electronics, project management, 3D computer aided design, user surveys and report writing. The group showed fantastic commitment to the project, continuing to work hard on it throughout lockdown and have had some excellent feedback from their assessor.
Congratulations to the girls for this exciting achievement.
