In the first week back from half term, Year 10 pupils attended Poetry Live, where they enjoyed a day of poetic exploration.
Poetry Live is an educational event where GCSE students hear from renowned poets, deepening their understanding of poetry through performances, discussions, and exam preparation tips.
The students had the opportunity to witness the poems they study come to life, as they heard from the likes of Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and poetic legend John Agard.
The students had a wonderful time at the event and even received helpful hints for their GCSEs from the Chief Examiner of the AQA exam board. The event breathed new life into the poems and gave them the chance to be part of a wider literary community.
“It was a very immersive experience as I got to hear the poets read their poems and explain why they wrote them. I was also delighted to get an insight into the mind of an AQA examiner during the lesson segments!”Fayo, Year 10 pupil
