Last Friday, Ms Evans, former Head of Science at Bromley High School, delivered a talk on her recent trip to the Galápagos Islands.
It provided the audience with great insight into both the importance and benefits of conservation projects, especially considering the heavy reliance of the Galapagos on volunteers for conservation efforts.
Despite her only staying there for two weeks, she mentioned that younger volunteers often stay for months at a time, indicating how enjoyable their experiences must have been.
Her stories about watching sea lions and how they have become comfortable around humans fascinated many, and her passion for following in Darwin’s footsteps inspired attendees.
“This lecture has certainly motivated me to embark on a similar trip, and I would love to participate in a rainforest conservation project in the future.”Ramya, Year 12 pupil
