On Thursday 7th February we were honoured to welcome Professor Deborah Lipstadt as part of our Minerva lectures. Professor Lipstadt spoke candidly about the David Irving trial (brought to life in the 2016 film Denial) and her fight against anti-Semitism whilst asking us to consider the idea of ‘inconvenient history’.
Her talk was both thought-provoking and insightful as she urged us to be critical thinkers and to keep asking questions. She herself answered many questions from our girls as well as our guests from Bonus Pastor School and Tonbridge School, on topics ranging from the use of Social Media to freedom of speech to the prejudice evident today. She left us with a powerful final thought: ‘There are facts, there are opinions and then there are lies’.
