The second half of the summer term has seen the successful return of Junior School girls to the classroom. As we plan for the return of senior pupils in September, we can reflect on the impressive way in which teachers and girls embraced the opportunities of Guided Home Learning.
The agility with which teachers made a seamless transition to teaching online enabled girls to remain fully immersed in their learning. In addition, pupils have taken part in online clubs and assemblies, sung in virtual choirs and enjoyed creative and sporting challenges.
Junior girls participated in the GDST Techathon and Science Days whilst Senior girls attended the Inspiring Females event and a joint choir won the GDST Eurovision Song Contest. 25 LAMDA entries from Grades 1-8 resulted in a clean sweep of 25 Distinctions. Years 7 and 8 achieved a splendid haul of 14 Golds, 17 Silvers and 38 Bronzes in the Junior Mathematics Challenge. The work of our talented GCSE and A level artists can be seen in a stunning online exhibition.
Pre-A level programmes for Year 11 and bespoke online enrichment programme for Sixth Form Leavers took the place of public examinations. Designed to encourage independent learning, the Leavers’ online programme offered live tai chi classes, careers courses and life skills courses including online baking classes.
