We were delighted to welcome clinical psychologists Dr Jo Douglas and Dr Diana Goldsmith to speak at our inaugural Middle School panel event Girls on the Edge: How Best to Support Middle School Girls.

Guest speaker Dr Jo Douglas is a consultant clinical psychologist specialising in adolescent girls. She was accompanied by Dr Diana Goldsmith, a senior clinical psychologist with expertise in working with children, young people, and their families.

The discussion spanned a range of topics, including mental health, peer-to-peer support, practical strategies for emotional regulation, and understanding the teenage experience in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our speakers also participated in a Q&A session, addressing issues such as maintaining good sleep hygiene and monitoring social media usage.

This event marked an exciting progression for our panel series, and we eagerly anticipate organising the 2024-25 panel series.

“There’s a complex interplay – emotionally, socially, physically, psychologically – and being able to understand what those impacts are and how they interact together is really important to be able to provide the right level of support.” Dr Jo Douglas
