This week, five Year 5 pupils had the pleasure of joining their GDST peers from across the country at the GDST’s annual English event, held at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

Our girls immersed themselves in a range of experiences, from exploring the historical significance of clothing across different social classes to delving into the art of sword fighting. One lucky student even had the chance to step onto the stage and embody Ophelia from Hamlet!

Collaborating with peers from other schools, the girls dived into drama workshops, where they uncovered the power of Shakespearean language and explored themes of social injustice. They were also treated to a tour of the theatre, witnessing the magic of set creation for the next play.

A highlight of the day was a captivating storytelling session, where an actress brought Shakespeare’s tales to life in a mesmerising performance.

Overall, the GDST English Conference was an enriching celebration of learning through trips and the arts, showcasing the endless possibilities of bringing education to life.
