Easter is a movable feast, determined by celestial and planetary patterns, falling each year on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring Equinox. As Easter falls so late this year, I am hoping that the sunny weather will remain, allowing us all to enjoy some much-needed time outdoors in the fresh air. It has been a wonderful term filled with celebrations, achievements, and learning. From the utterly spectacular Les Mis production, the cultural catwalk, and our KS1 Aladdin performance, to StarGazing, the launch of our new Senior School Neurodiversity Champions, and the Middle School Factor. At Bromley High School, we are always working hard, but there is so much joy and play that intersperses the more traditional learning in lesson time. It is here that we witness our girls seeking balance, the right harmony between work and play. Balance is not something you find; it’s something you create. I am very pleased to say that we are now looking forward to two of our big estate projects coming to an end, and we will get to enjoy these spaces soon in the Summer term.

“Time and tide wait for no man, but time spent with loved ones and on things that bring joy is time well spent.”

This Easter break, I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my nearest and dearest – including a quick round trip to Euro Disney while my own children are still at the perfect age to enjoy the magic! I will be thinking of our Year 11 and 13 girls, steadfastly preparing for the next few months as they approach their public exams. I hope these girls will also have the opportunity to spend some quality time with one another and seek a joyful balance of work and play. As they prepare for their public examinations, this balance is more vital than ever.

I wish you all a wonderful Easter break!

Best wishes,

Mrs Emily Codling, Headmistress
