Over the Easter holidays, two groups of Gold Duke of Edinburgh pupils successfully concluded their bell boating practice and walking expeditions, laying a solid foundation for their upcoming assessed expedition in the following months.
The first group of Sixth Formers took part in their bell boating practice expedition, rowing 40 miles over three days. They joined ten participants from several other schools, helping them build their team working skills and making great friendships.
“The expedition was lots of fun apart from how cold it was at night (it was freezing), but overall it was very enjoyable and we cannot wait to do it in the summer for five days!”Caitlin, Year 12
The second group of pupils spent four days in the Peak District for a walking expedition; camping in campsites for the first two nights and wild camping on a mountain for the third and final night.
“We remained positive throughout, even through the bogs, and made sure to motivate each other when our feet began to hurt – bring on the qualifier!” Jenna Y12Jenna, Year 12 pupil
Congratulations to the girls for completing their practice expedition and good luck for August!
