We are delighted to announce Marisa Conner, the Dutch National 3m Springboard Diving Champion, has won a Scholarship to the Ivy League’s prestigious Yale University. Amazingly, Marisa broke off from her A level examinations to win two Gold medals in the Dutch National Diving Championships in Amsterdam before returning to the exam room to secure As in Biology and Economics and a B in Mathematics.
Deputy Head Girl, Sophie Oliver, achieved 2 A*s in Music and English Literature and a Distinction in Theology and Philosophy. An accomplished cellist, Sophie takes up a Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in her final year at Bromley High, Sophie organised her own cello recital which raised over £1,700 for diabetes charity JDRF.
Many A*/A students are following well-worn paths for Bromley High Leavers, Negin Mortazavi will take up a place for Dentistry at Bristol, Dilys Tawiah Medicine, Yang Zhang Engineering at Durham and Martha Jennings and Arushi Gupta at Exeter (Classics & Geography respectively) and one enterprising Leaver, Milly Barnshaw, has followed one of the new routes to university securing an apprenticeship at Markel International.
The Arts too were well represented, with Jasmine Cornish gaining a place to study Architecture at UCA and Niamh Finnie a place to study Art at Central St. Martin’s.
‘We cherish girls’ individuality as well as their successes,’ commented Bromley High School Headmistress, Angela Drew, ‘ and are thrilled that the impressive academic achievement of the Class of 2018 has opened up such diverse and exciting futures for them.’
