Today, the school commemorated International Women’s Day, a global day honouring women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. The theme for this year is Inspire Inclusion, emphasising the importance of fostering diversity and ensuring that all voices are heard and valued in the pursuit of gender equality.
“When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world.” International Women’s Day 2024
In the Junior School, both pupils and teachers dressed up as inspirational women and gathering for a special assembly. Hosted by Mrs. Dickerson, the assembly featured a quiz covering remarkable women across different eras and fields, such as Frida Kahlo, Mother Teresa, and Amelia Earhart.
Additionally, Year 6 pupil Isabella contributed to the occasion by crafting artwork inspired by the courageous women of Papua New Guinea, who defied the dominance of men in society. Her work served as a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength exhibited by women worldwide in challenging oppressive systems.
In the Senior School, the day kicked off with a music assembly celebrating the music of iconic female singers. Pupils spent their form time taking part in a number of International Women’s Day activities, they wrote their pledges on a #InspireInclusion pledge board, and pupils and staff wore purple accessories to school.
Earlier this week, the school hall was transformed into a vibrant jazz club featuring a live orchestra and rhythm section, celebrating the musical legacies of iconic female artists during a captivating cabaret-style evening.
The Bromley High School community has embraced the spirit of inclusivity and recognition of women’s contributions to society, fostering a culture of appreciation and respect for diversity among pupils and staff alike.
