Last month, students and parents from Bromley High, local state schools and GDST schools attended our Medics, Vets and Dentists Insight Evening.

The opening speaker was Dr Philip Chan, who has had a successful career as a surgeon and now works as the Lead for Admissions to the new Kent and Medway Medical School. He talked through the general process of entry into medical school, offering valuable advice on the importance of carrying out in-depth research into each individual institution. After that, attendees chose specific sessions according to their specific career interests, where they heard from other professionals in their preferred areas of work.

Leading the session on medicine was Iqra Ahmed, a former Bromley High student, who is currently in her fourth year at St. George’s Medical School. She spoke about how she is motivated by the powerful personal interactions that she experiences in her different placements. Dr Adedapo Alagbe, who has just qualified as a dentist, also shared some insight into how to pursue a successful career in dentistry.

“The evening was highly informative and I would recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest interest in becoming a medic, dentist or vet. I would also like to thank the speakers for taking the time to come and talk to us.”Sophia Bardon-Davis (Year 12 aspiring medic)
