Last weekend, four debating teams from Bromley High School entered the South London round of the Cambridge Union Schools Debating Competition, one of the biggest schools debating competitions in the world.

The competition offers excellent opportunities for young people to get to grips with speaking in public, hone their analytical skills and countless other things, all useful for later life.

In total 40 teams entered the competition from a variety of London schools, making the day particularly competitive.   Bromley High School’s highest ranked team was placed 7th overall and our top speaker, Darcey Keegan, placing 12th out of 80. This was a particular achievement given that our most successful team were Year 10 pupils, competing against Sixth Formers from other schools.

“The topics in the competition were challenging but it was a very enjoyable day. We received a lot of useful feedback from the judges, which will help us to improve even more in future competitions.”Darcey Keegan, Year 10 pupil

Congratulations to the girls.
