Analytical skills and collaboration are just two ‘Skills for the Future’ that our pupils actively convey at Bromley High School. The Oxford University Computing Challenge (OUCC) is an invitation event which aims to encourage students who have achieved a top 10% score in the UK Bebras Challenge to develop their skills further and produce programmed solutions to computational thinking problems.
Following on from Bromley High School pupils’ success at the Bebras UK Challenge in November 2022, eight Year 6 girls joined the Senior School to compete in Round 1 of the OUCC in the Junior category. The coding tasks were extremely challenging and made for exciting debate amongst the pupils. The girls achieved exceptional results! Two pupils were awarded merits and six were awarded Distinction – a fantastic outcome from the prestigious contest.
In the Senior School 69 pupils qualified to Round 1 of the OUCC Challenge in all 3 categories from Juniors to Elite. The students taking part in the challenge; completed tasks from block coding to complex Python challenges which they enjoyed immensely. Well done to all for participating and especially to Isabella in Year 7 who was awarded a Distinction!
