To celebrate Book Week, the Bromley High Parents’ Association (BHPA) hosted its first Book Drive in aid of Acorn Book Club, whose aim is to ensure that no child is denied access to quality books.
The Bromley High community came together and not only donated an unrivalled 1,150 books, which will be used across various library projects, but also raised £750 to help fund specialist library equipment at the newly situated Marjorie McClure School, Chislehurst.
Jo Chandler, Operations Manager for Acorn Book Club said, “Acorn Book Club is absolutely thrilled with the generosity and support shown by Bromley High School! The donated books are in excellent condition and cover a wide range of reading abilities and interests. I know they will make a real difference to the primary school libraries we’ll donate them to.”
“The incredibly generous fundraising will support the purchase of resources for SEN schools like Marjorie McClure, where regular books are often unsuitable for pupils’ learning needs. Thank you to everyone at Bromley High – your donations have ensured we can continue with our mission to engender a love of reading for pleasure amongst children throughout Southeast London and North Kent, something we hope will last them a lifetime.”
Thank you to the whole Bromley High community for your generosity in supporting this fantastic local charity.
