Participants have now officially completed the Borneo charity challenge, which was organised earlier this year by Year 12 pupils, to raise money for the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) following the cancellation of this year’s Outlook Expedition.
The Bromley High School annual Outlook Expedition provides opportunities for Sixth Formers to enjoy an inspirational physically challenging and cultural enriching experience. This summer, the 2020 Outlook Expedition team was due to go to Borneo for three weeks, giving our pupils the opportunity to volunteer at local schools, visit orangutan sanctuaries and experience the local culture. Unfortunately the trip was cancelled, so instead our Year 12 pupils decided to raise money for the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF).
BOSF helps rescue, rehabilitate and reintroduce orangutans as well as involving local communities in orangutan habitat conservation.
Their aim was to run or walk the length of Borneo, which is 1,336 km or 830 miles with the target of raising £500 from the Bromley High community.
Not only did they complete all 1,336km, they also climbed Mount Kinabalu over three times, reaching a total club elevation of 13,669m! It was a great effort from everyone, particularly Mrs Bird and Karen Chiswick who were consistently at the top of the leader board every week.
Congratulations to all the participants! It’s not too late to still donate.
