In celebration of Book Week and World Book Day, popular author Lisa Thompson visited the school to talk to Junior and Senior School pupils.

Lisa’s book The Goldfish Boy was a Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal, the Branford Boase Award and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.

For Years 3 and 4, Lisa talked about her novella Small Things inspired by a real life school robot. Years 5 and 6 pupils heard about Lisa’s current book The Rollercoaster Boy and she shared what life is like as a full-time writer.

“She made me feel like I was in the book.” Cali, Year 6 pupil

“It was very interactive!” Livia, Year 6 pupil

In the Senior School Years 7 and 8 were treated to an ‘Escape Room’ experience as it is an integral part of the story of The Rollercoaster Boy. They were challenged to unravel the clues and find a key to escape!

Lisa also signed copies of her books for students to keep as a lovely memento of the day. As an extra bonus Bromley High School students were the very first pupils to hear from Lisa’s new book coming out in April, The Treasure Hunters, which features a group of students who go on a school trip and end up on a mystery adventure.
