Every fortnight, we will showcase pupils’ art and photography work, highlighting their creativity and talent.
This week, the Art department is sharing some images from their recent trip to Paris! Over half term, 14 Sixth Form Art, Photography and Design & Technology students travelled to Paris for a long weekend packed with art and design treats.
No sooner had they stepped off the Eurostar, they were tasked with navigating the metro system and heading straight to the Musée de l’Orangerie to view Monet’s Water Lilies, along with other modern masterpieces. From there, the group ventured to the Louis Vuitton Foundation, an iconic building designed by Frank Gehry, to explore the impressive Pop Art exhibition and take in the stunning views across Paris.
Over the next few days, the group also visited the Musée d’Orsay, where installations by Elmgreen & Dragset challenged their perceptions, and to Palais de Tokyo for contemporary works, including immersive installations by Julian Charrière and Myriam Mihindou.
Other highlights included visits to Galeries Lafayette, the Pompidou Centre, Shakespeare & Company, Sacré Cœur, and Notre Dame, which, though still closed to the public, had a fascinating public display on the restoration and the skilled craftspeople working to restore the Cathedral.
Needless to say, the Sixth Form students had a wonderful time during their weekend in Paris!
