Last weekend, Year 5 pupil Lyla competed in the Bromley Swimming Club Christmas Gold gala, alongside swimmers from Leander, Crawley, and Wandsworth. Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, she took part in six events in the 9 year old category, achieving six personal bests.
Following her incredible achievement of earning eight medals in eight events at the Autumn Gold Gala in October, Lyla’s impressive performance at this event earned her five gold medals and one silver. Her 100m breaststroke time of 1:40.60 secured an automatic place in the Kent Championships, which will take place at the London Aquatic Centre in January.
In addition to this, Lyla recorded five consideration times across several events: 50m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, 200m IM, 50m freestyle, and 100m freestyle. Bromley High School is excited to find out if Lyla will be selected for these events as well.
Well done to Lyla on a fantastic weekend of swimming – an inspiring display of dedication and talent!
