We were delighted to welcome parents and guests to our 140th Anniversary Gala Concert at perhaps the most prestigious of musical venues, the Royal Academy of Music.
The concert involved over 140 pupils from Years 3 to Year 13, a testament to the talent and musicianship that continues to be at the very heart of Bromley High School and the GDST.
To celebrate the school’s 140th anniversary the concert took the audience on a musical journey through time from the very founding years of the school to the present day, culminating with a specially commissioned piece by celebrated composer, Kristina Arakelyan, who worked with the pupils to create lyrics that reflected their thoughts and experiences at the school.
The repertoire showcased a variety of styles from the classical tones of Bizet, Shostakovich and Sibelius through to the styles of Gershwin, Foo Fighters, Toto and an apparent first for the Academy, the Spice Girls! Treading in the footsteps of celebrated artists such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Annie Lennox, Elton John and Evlyn Glennie, it really was the most incredible experience and one that I don’t think anyone who was there will ever forget.
Thank you to all those who supported Bromley High School at this remarkable event.
