Scholarships are awarded as a fixed percentage reduction in fees, usually between 5 and 20%, are awarded for the full seven years of the Senior School from Year 7 to Year 13 and reviewed annually.

Eligibility

  • You must apply online for this scholarship
  • All pupils who successfully pass the 11+ Entrance Examination are eligible
  • An accompanying letter should be included with the application that supports the pupil’s suitability for the scholarship.  We will not accept an application without an accompanying letter
  • A written recommendation should also be submitted by a drama coach, a drama teacher or a classroom teacher to support the pupil’s suitability for a scholarship.

Selection process

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted after the Entrance Examination.

Pupils who have been shortlisted will be invited to attend a workshop and audition the week commencing 20th January 2025.  The workshop will involve practical activities where candidates will have the opportunity to work with others. Candidates should also prepare a short solo piece of no longer that two minutes which they will perform and which will be followed by an informal discussion with the Head of Department.

  • Scholar society programme: each half-term, scholars will come together for a workshop and discussion targeted at university of career preparation
  • Mentoring from specialist staff: 1:1 mentoring from specialist member of staff about academic progress and recommendations on how to wider learning
  • Scholar society open mic: each term, scholars will be invited to present at an informal event for parents, teachers and special guests from different areas of scholarship and the workplace on an area of interest or performance depending on scholarship area.

  • Commitment to drama as a practical activity
  • Commitment to drama as an academic pursuit
  • Behave in such a manner as to be a role model to their peers
  • Able to work creatively and efficiently with others
  • Be able to promote the department on a wider level throughout the school.
Desirable:

  • Seek further opportunities to develop drama within the school environment
  • Take an active role in current practical activities
  • Able to assist with the running of activities alongside the Head Of Drama
  • Demonstrate a wider interest in drama as a subject
  • Demonstrate confidence when dealing with others
  • Manage a range of tasks within a drama framework including efficient use of time
  • Able to think creatively and beyond the conventional.
