World Book Day is on Thursday 4th March, and the school will be celebrating books and reading all week from 1st to 5th March.

Throughout the week, pupils will be attending virtual author visits with popular authors including Robin Stevens and Fleur Hitchock.  A full schedule of events is shown below.

Years 2 to 4

Clara Vulliamy

Clara Vulliamy is an illustrator and author best known for her Dixie O’Day series (Random House), aimed at children aged 5+, for which she collaborated with her mother, Shirley Hughes.

 

Years 3 and 4

Fleur Hitchcock

Fleur Hitchcock has written ten books for children since 2012 when her first novel Shrunk was published by Hot Key Books and there are plenty more in the pipeline.

 

Years 5 to 8

Robin Stevens – Thursday 4th March (10.15-11am)

Author of the phenomenally successful Murder Most Unladylike series, Robin will talk about her books, and in particular the final book in the series, Death Sets Sail as well as how she writes, where inspiration comes from and she’ll also set a special World Book Day writing challenge.

Years 9 and 10

Alex Wheatle –  Friday 5th March (10.15-11am)

Alex Wheatle is the award-winning author of Straight Outta Crongton, Liccle Bit, Home Boy, Cane Warriors and The Humiliation of Welton Blake. Alex grew up in care and his turbulent childhood was dramatised in an episode of Steve McQueen’s recent Small Axe BBC drama series.
