On Saturday, ten of our Senior debaters participated in London Juniors 2025, the largest under 17 online debate competition in the world this year.
Organised by the World Speak Initiative, the competition saw 170 teams of young debaters from around the globe pit their skills against one another.
Senior pupils Sanjana, Gulsen, Evangeline, Mariana, Dabira, Audrey, Sasya, Aarika, Eniola, and Kitty made Bromley High School proud as they tackled important issues of the day, from analysing the impact of a “Job Displacement Tax” on corporations replacing human workers with AI tools, to considering whether we should support factory farming.
Special congratulations go to Eniola and Kitty, who ranked among the top 30 teams in the entire competition. (Pictured)
The competition offered participants a valuable opportunity to hear diverse ideas and arguments, with many finding it thrilling to engage with voices from around the world, while others appreciated the chance to learn different styles and speech structures.
“We very enjoyed the intellectual challenge, as the motions were varied and challenging.”Gulsen & Sanjana, Senior Debaters
All in all, the debaters agreed it was a fantastic day of debating, and they are all looking forward to more competitions in the future!
