In November, The Junior School celebrated ‘Non-Fiction November’, an exciting initiative designed to immerse our girls in the world of non-fiction and ignite a passion for exploring the real world through reading and writing.
One of the main events was the Key Stage 2 Non-Fiction Reading Challenge, which was a huge success! The challenge motivated pupils across the school to read 506 non-fiction books throughout the month, with Year 3 emerging as the winners by reading an impressive total of 249 non-fiction books.
“When you read non-fiction books, you get to learn new things and facts about different topics, and I read a lot more non-fiction books than I normally do.”Aicha, Year 3 pupil
To support the celebration, the library team organised fun non-fiction activities for the pupils, including a special non-fiction quiz and a display of fascinating non-fiction texts.
Overall, ‘Non-Fiction November’ was a month full of exciting activities and learning opportunities. It sparked curiosity and a love for reading that will continue throughout the year!
“I really like non-fiction because we got to read loads of extra non-fiction books!”Emily, Year 3 pupil
