To start off their half term, pupils from Years 9 to 11 set off for an exciting weekend trip to Berlin.

The group had an unforgettable weekend exploring the vibrant city of Berlin, soaking up the sunshine while learning about the city’s rich and fascinating history.

Highlights of the trip included a visit to the Ritter Workshop, where the students had the chance to make their own chocolate, and a fun-filled graffiti session in Mauerpark, where they created a collaborative masterpiece. In addition to these hands-on experiences, the pupils sampled traditional German dishes, including Currywurst and Kassler, immersing themselves in the local flavours and food culture.

The group also visited two major museums, the Spy Museum and the DDR Museum, both of which offered engaging, interactive exhibits. At the Spy Museum, students delved into the world of espionage, exploring the history and techniques of spies throughout the years. At the DDR Museum, they gained a deeper understanding of life in East Germany during the Cold War and the role of the Stasi, the secret police. Through these immersive experiences, the pupils learned not only about Berlin’s past but also about the city’s evolution into the modern, dynamic metropolis it is today.

Overall, the weekend was a perfect blend of cultural exploration, historical learning, and fun, leaving the students with lasting memories of their trip to Berlin.
