In Reception, the pupils are embracing the themes of autumn by exploring wildlife and celebrating Harvest.

Last week in Reception, the pupils learnt about hedgehogs. The pupils enjoyed reading nonfiction books and discovering many interesting facts about these creatures. Did you know a hedgehog has between 5000 and 7000 quills (spikes)? The children developed their observational skills by studying hedgehog illustrations and discussing their features.

This week, the pupils have been learning about Harvest. They read the story of ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ and used their chopping and slicing skills to prepare vegetables. They then enjoyed tasting vegetable soup, including sweet potato soup and mixed vegetable soup.

The Reception pupils are settling in well during their first term at ‘big school’. The girls are making friends, exploring the classroom, and adapting to the school routine. It’s heartwarming to see each child’s personality shine as they embrace this exciting learning journey!
