This year’s Summer Art Show at Bromley High School was a spectacular display of the students’ talent, creativity, and hard work. The exhibition showcased a diverse range of artworks, reflecting a year filled with exploration, growth, and creative achievement.
A highlight of the exhibition was the influence of the Artists in Residence, Helen Barff and Sarah Pimenta. Helen encouraged students to explore plaster casting and concepts of memory, resulting in thought-provoking pieces. Sarah’s workshops focused on the theme of movement, culminating in a stunning silk-screen banner that captured the power of walking in the students’ daily journeys to school.
“The workshops with Helen and Sarah were amazing. They pushed us to think differently and helped us realize how powerful art can be in expressing our thoughts and ideas. They were great fun!”Emily, Year 9 pupil
A level and GCSE students shone brightly with pieces displaying a high level of skill, emotional depth, and conceptual ideas, many of which would not look out of place in a degree show exhibition.
As the school celebrates these accomplishments, it also reflects on the broader impact of creativity. In an era marked by climate change and technological advancements, creative thinking is essential. The students’ work this year demonstrated a deep engagement with environmental and societal themes, showcasing art’s potential as a tool for advocacy and change.
The school extends its thanks to the dedicated students, parents, and staff for their passion and commitment to Art and Design. Together, they will continue to champion creativity and its power to shape a more sustainable and transformational future.
