Every fortnight, we will showcase pupils’ art and photography work.

This fortnight, we showcase the beautiful creations crafted by students across the Senior School during their workshops with Artist in Residence, Helen Barff.

Students were tasked with bringing in objects of personal significance or ones that represented them. They then faced the challenge of drawing their chosen objects using various techniques and from different distances, prompting them to consider the role of memory in drawing. Subsequently, they translated their drawings into clay using their fingers and tools, incorporating texture from collected materials. For many, this was their first exploration of this medium. Additionally, they cast their clay creations using plaster, further exploring the themes of drawing and memory.

The Senior School thoroughly enjoyed having Helen collaborate in the studios, witnessing her exploration of new ideas and techniques. As a kind gesture, she gifted the school two of her drawings, which are also showcased. We eagerly anticipate how her workshops and personal work will inspire students in their future projects!
