We are excited to announce that Bromley High Junior School has been awarded the Gold Learning Outside the Classroom Mark. This is a powerful statement of our commitment to the benefits of learning beyond the classroom.

The Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Mark celebrates schools and educational settings that provide meaningful experiences across the whole curriculum, indoors and out, on and off-site. The Mark is awarded by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, a UK-wide charity that champions all learning happening beyond the classroom. Their work supports educators, schools, and organisations dedicated to ensuring more children and young people have opportunities for life-changing learning experiences, whether indoors or outdoors, close to home or far away.

The many benefits of learning outside the classroom are well-evidenced, including improved academic attainment, physical health, emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and resilience.

Outdoor Leader Mrs. Wendy Shearman said, “The Gold LOtC Mark is a fantastic achievement for our staff. It highlights our commitment to providing pupils with vital learning opportunities outside the classroom. We’re thrilled with this recognition and will continue to embed outdoor learning in our curriculum to help pupils reach their potential.”
