Year 8 pupils were delighted to welcome, Ellie Olds, a Nutrition Specialist from Holroyde Howe, who shared some insights on the importance of nutrition during puberty.
Ellie discussed the role of different food groups in supporting the physiological changes that occur during puberty. She outlined the benefits of a balanced diet during the growth spurt associated with this age group and explained how a diet rich in zinc and magnesium before and during menstruation can help reduce prostaglandins, which are associated with pain and cramps.
The pupils then sampled a banana and greens smoothie and a nutrient-rich flapjack.
