‘Divergent’ by Veronica Roth

A young 16 year old girl named Beatrice lives in a dystopian wasteland future. It is split into five factions, and each faction is allocated a virtue.

Beatrice and her family are in the faction called Abnegation, and its virtue is selflessness. On her 16th birthday, she has to choose a faction which best fits her. If she does not pick Abnegation, she will never see her family again.

People who do not fit into any of these categories are know as Divergent. Beatrice thinks she is a Divergent, and becomes worried when she finds out that Divergents disappear without a trace.
