We were delighted to receive a visit from Caroline Lawrence (author of the very
popular Roman Mysteries series as well as many other books) for years 5, 6 and 7
students. Caroline Lawrence spoke to the girls not only about how she became an
author and how to create the best story, but also about a myriad of facts
concerning the ancient world, from the eruption of Vesuvius and the site at
Ostia to Roman houses (particularly Roman toilets, a favourite topic of hers!).
This not only linked wonderfully to the year 7 textbook set in Pompeii but also
to the learning of volcanos in the Junior School. Caroline Lawrence was very
engaging and much fun was had. She involved the audience with her questions and
said that she had really enjoyed meeting our students. We look forward to
another visit in the near future.
