At the start of the school year, Bromley High Junior School’s English department encouraged participation in the BBC’s 500 Words Competition, igniting creativity and storytelling among pupils.

Many girls’ stories were selected among the top 500 entries, with Year 3 pupil Sanya shining in the top 25 for her age group. This achievement earned her an exclusive reception hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace. Sanya, filled with pride, relished the final stage, mingling with celebrities and renowned authors like Malorie Blackman and Francesca Simon.

Reflecting on the event, Sanya shared her excitement about meeting famous personalities, particularly actor Rhys Stephenson from CBeebies Panto: Robin Hood, which fueled her enthusiasm for the upcoming Year 3 and 4 production of Robin Hood.

Anticipating next year’s competition, Sanya imparted wisdom to her peers at Bromley High Junior School, “Winning isn’t everything; participation matters, but believe in yourself and use good adjectives and verbs!”
