Scholarships are awarded as a fixed percentage reduction in fees, usually between 5 and 20%, for the full two years of our Sixth Form.
This scholarship is awarded on both merit and the potential that a student shows in her enthusiasm; desire and ability to develop further her commitment to the subject in the future. Therefore, any student applying should certainly have decided to pursue Art/Photography and or Textiles at A level and possibly beyond.
Eligibility
- You must apply online for this scholarship by Monday 14th October 2024.
- All candidates are to submit a letter of approximately 200 words outlining the reasons they are applying. You may wish to consider the following: – What excites you about Art? – What do you most like about Art at Bromley High? – What qualities make a good Art scholar and how do you think these apply to you? – What are your personal strengths and weaknesses?
- All candidates should bring with them a selection of Year 10 and 11 Art coursework if they are selected for interview.
- For external candidates, an accompanying portfolio should be included with the application that supports the pupil’s suitability for the scholarship. The portfolio should be a PowerPoint presentation of no more than 10 slides and should include examples of drawings as well as other artwork using other materials or techniques. We will not accept an application without an accompanying portfolio.
Selection process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with Mrs Lovett and an independent art specialist the week commencing 11th November 2024.
Pupils who have been shortlisted will be invited to attend an informal interview of about 10 minutes along with their most recent sketchbook. They will be asked a series of questions about their art work and artists who have influenced their work. They must bring their most recent sketchbook or pieces of work to talk about.

- Taking part in a vast enrichment programme, including membership of the Arts Council workshops with our Artist in Residence and the Creative Industry talks.

- Helping to run an Art club for other students
- Invitations to a series of creative industry vocational talks to help improve your daughter’s future in the Arts
- Representing the school at open events within the Art department
- Scholar society programme: each half-term, scholars will come together for a workshop and discussion targeted at university of career preparation
- Mentoring from specialist staff: 1:1 mentoring from specialist member of staff about academic progress and recommendations on how to wider learning
- Scholar society open mic: each term, scholars will be invited to present at an informal event for parents, teachers and special guests from different areas of scholarship and the workplace on an area of interest or performance depending on scholarship area.
