On Thursday 22nd of June, pupils participated in the Kent 8’s regional cricket tournament.
The team competed in two matches, one against Radnor House and the other against Sevenoaks. Each match consisted of 8 overs per innings.
In their first match against Radnor House, the team batted first and scored 62 runs. Evie contributed the highest number of runs and retired. It was a remarkable team effort, with excellent decision-making and effective running between the wickets. During their fielding innings, Rosie opened the bowling, followed by Evie. As the opposition required 5 runs from the last four balls, Rosie bowled the final over and successfully prevented the opposition from reaching their target.
Moving on to the match against Sevenoaks, the Bromley team chose to field first. Once again, Rosie and Evie took charge of the opening bowling. Nichole made an exceptional catch to dismiss the first batter from Sevenoaks. Additionally, Amelia caught two balls bowled by Amie. While chasing a target of 54 runs during our batting innings, the team found itself needing one run to win in the last over, thanks to Rosie’s three fours in the previous over. In the penultimate ball, Rebecca skillfully chipped the ball over the close field to secure the final run required.
