Last Friday, Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to go on a science trip to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London.
The group kicked off their visit with an engaging workshop designed to deepen their understanding of space. The pupils delved into various fascinating topics, ranging from planets and stars to the intricate workings of the vast universe. They also challenged themselves with a word search and quiz to put their newfound knowledge about space to the test.
In the afternoon they made their way to the planetarium. As pupils settled into their seats and relaxed, the dome screen above them projected a captivating depiction of space, creating an immersive experience akin to watching a 3D movie. On their way out, they had the extraordinary opportunity to touch an ancient artefact – a real meteor that had traversed the cosmos millions of years ago.
Next on their itinerary was a visit to the Prime Meridian line, which proved to be a favourite among the pupils. They were fascinated by the concept of crossing into different time zones.
“We all agreed that our time at the Royal Observatory has been an exceptional and unforgettable experience. The sights in the planetarium were truly mesmerising.”Nimreet, Year 5 pupil
